Leon Balogun, a defender for the Super Eagles, has signed a one-year deal with Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship.
Following the expiration of his contract, Balogun left Glasgow Rangers of the Scottish Premiership in June.
Prior to joining Rangers in 2020, the 34-year-old played for Wigan Athletic for a brief while in the Sky Bet Championship.
The player’s transfer to Loftus Road was greatly aided by Mick Beale, a former assistant coach for Rangers who is currently the manager of QPR.
”It is a big relief to know I can get back to action and I am looking forward to it,” the centre-back told the club’s official website.
“We have been speaking for some weeks so I am happy we got it done.
“The manager is one of the main factors for me. When he left Rangers I messaged him and said in terms of a football brain he is one of the best I have worked with.”
Balogun has not yet participated in a competitive game this year, but he is optimistic he can adjust to his new club fast.
“I have managed to keep myself fit,” he said.
“I haven’t been able to have team training so that is what I will try to catch up with as quickly as possible.
“The foundation of my fitness is there so it really shouldn’t take me long.”
